Press Release

December 26, 2024

We, the Pan-Somali Council for Peace and Democracy (ISRAACA) unequivocally condemn the Ethiopian military invasion into Somali territory and strongly demand the government of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi to halt the aggression and withdraw its forces immediately.

We urge the international community to put pressure on the Ethiopian Government to stop this naked aggression in violation of international law and to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia. Mindful of the severity of the prolonged suffering of the Somali people for the past sixteen years, we the Pan-Somali Council believe that the only way out of this political stalemate is through constructive and open dialogue between the Islamic Courts Union and the Transitional Federal Government.

We therefore strongly recommend the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) and the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) to show restraint; resume peaceful dialogue through the Khartoum Peace Conference; reach a sound plan for power sharing and honor all previous agreements.

We also invite the ICU and the TFG to work for the creation of a platform that will allow the two groups to collectively reach an agreed upon framework for achieving stability and bringing international peace keeping troops under the auspices of the United Nations to Somalia.

The Pan-Somali Council for Peace and Democracy is a Washington-based Somali advocacy organization.

Sincerely,

Board of Directors

Pardon when was the last election of Israaca board of directors conducted. Is Israaca heading toward oblivion. Before issuing a press statement is a norm to distribute an email to members alerting them and soliciting their views. No wonder many of us no longer bother to check the website.

Israaca has turned succumbed to the afrivcan fever of total man syndrome.

Abdi Greek.
