The Somali federal government is designed and supported by international community. It was top-down approach and was not consulted with Somali people. Majority of Somali people believe that the federal system is an old ‘divide and rule’ concept of western intervention which would make Somali state weaker in order to control and blunder its resources.
The federal system is in existence over 12 years; sadly it has made conditions of Somali people much worse for chance to have stable Somalia and better future. The system could not in work economically, socially and security aspects in Somalia. Somalis are homogenous society and federalism is not suitable option.
Never too late to change course of governance, Somalia needs strong central government that able to rebuild Somalia socially, economically and security aspects. In this process, it must be consulted with Somali citizens and owned by Somali people. The international community could play important role towards building stable Somalia and consequently better regional security. This route is in reach and less cost in all aspects.
