ISRAACA PRESS RELEASE
The Pan-Somali Council for Peace and Democracy (ISRAACA) held a reception on April 25, 2025 at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington D.C to share the vision of Israaca with the global community.
ISRAACA board member, Dr. Abdinur Sh. Mohamud, provided the historical background of the organization from its inception to its vision for both the short-term and the long-term action plans to restore Somalia’s civil society and institutions.
ISRAACA recognized the laudable efforts of Fatima Jibril, winner of the 2002 environmental Goldman award for Africa. In her brief statement to the audience, she acknowledged Israaca’s struggle and vision for Somalia. Also, guest speaker of the event, Ambassador David Shinn addressed the audience and emphasized the role of organizations such as Israaca that are engaged in the unity of all Somalis to connect and forge alliances to influence US policy makers.
ISRAACA chairman Mr. Said Salah reiterated israaca’s basic principles of unity, de-institutionalization of clanism and the need for the protection of the environment. The chairman stressed that the role and the future plan of Israaca is to actively engage the Somali people, particularly as it pertains to the Somali reconciliation process and to advocate that any meaningful reconciliation should be held within Somalia proper. The Chairman called the Somali people to take their destiny in their own hands.
At the end of the formal event, guests and Israaca members interacted with ease, new friendships were created and old ones rekindled. ISRAACA is greatly indebted to all of those who made our reception a smashing success. |
